We invest in our health, homes, finances, families, friends, sports, creative pursuits, education, profession... How about ‘you’? Do you invest in ‘you’?What does it mean to invest in ‘me’? To invest in ourselves is to invest in our peace of mind, positivity, qualities, values…Would you ever say you want more anger or fear in your life?
Invest in You
Our foundation is peace, so first of all is to increase our stock of peace. The key is our thoughts. Thoughts and feelings are closely linked an we can use our thoughts to create a feeling. To increase our stock of peace is to increase our experience of peace and for this we can use our thoughts to create the feeling.
Sit down, stop the swirl of thoughts and think: I am peace. Explore this and experience it….... However, more often than not when we first sit down we find that our mind goes into overdrive! If this is the case first of all we need to make friends with our mind.
Invest in Your Mind
Talk to your mind
Our minds likes peace and happiness, like a child though it doesn't like being dictated to. If we say to it, ‘Be quiet! ’ more than likely it will kick up a rumpus. Instead, be diplomatic, loving and gentle. ‘Hey mind, I have an idea. Why don’t we sit down together peacefully together for 5 minutes?’ Cajole it if needed, ‘Hey mind, you are so beautiful like a calm deep lake.’ If we take out time to invest in our mind it will start to co-operate with us.
Give your mind a challenge
Give your mind a positive focus for the day, it likes a challenge. You could, for example, say your mind that, no matter what happens today let's see how many times we can win at remaining peaceful, respectful, cheerful, patient…
Invest in Your Positivity
Reason with your mind when find going down a negative path and bring it back on track. Also, spend some time sending good wishes (positive vibrations) to the earth, nature and others.
Unplug
Unplug for a while; this means to shut down our physical senses for a while and just become aware of our selves as the being (the soul) that we are. Withdraw and re-charge. In doing so we create a buffer around ourselves against the negativity that surrounds us and eventually instead of being influenced by it we become a positive influence.
Invest in Your Tomorrows
If a problem keeps re-curing it means that we haven’t yet got it. We haven’t got the answer right. If, for example, people keep getting angry towards us for no real reason maybe it is because we need to learn not to make things personal when they aren't. The answer usually lies in our reaction and how it is taking us away from our peace or happiness. Take time to discover what re-curring situations are telling you.
What happens today is a result of our past. What we do today creates our tomorrows.
To Invest in Ourselves is to Invest in Others
As our peace grows the atmosphere around us changes. As we stop reacting to others we become a mirror for them to see what they need to change so that they too can become more peaceful and happy.
To invest in you is to invest in everything.
